Infectious Diseases in Children at Two University Hospitals in Korea in 1980
Yun Duk-Jin
Abstract
There have been several reports on the disease patterns of Korean children but they have only been concerned with admitted cases (Lee et al.,
1980; Sohn et al., 1980) and patients seen in the emergency clinics (Sohn, 1967; Lim et al., 1975; Ahn et al., 1977; Seo et al., 1979; Lee et al., 1981). None have reported on the data of total numbers from out-patient department, emergency clinics from hospitalized children. Since we do not have this kind of data on a local or national basis in Korea, this study was conduc¡©ted in order to learn the importance of infectious diseases in children as compared with other diseases by reviewing the records of both ambulatory and hospitalized children from two university hospitals, Severance (a hospital in a large city) and Wonju Christian Hospital (a hospital in a small city in rural area) in 1980.
